inkBoat is a performance company built by and with the collaborative efforts of choreographers, dancers, musicians, visual artists, directors and actors.
Founded by Shinichi Iova-Koga, their performance style is a hybrid of traditional and experimental dance and theater.
Collaborators across the globe assemble according to each project, which usually consists of 1 to 15 members. Their works have been performed in Europe, Japan and North America.
Recently, Iova-Koga has collaborated with Seattle music director Joshua Kohl of the big band Degenerate Art Ensemble to create c(H)ord, a stunning exploration of alienation and community. This visual treat has performers hanging from the rafters and slipping out from billowing cocoon-like dwellings connecting through light, sound and movement.
The show, featuring a cast of nine performers hailing from Japan, Finland, Germany, Korea and the US, will be perfomed at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco from April 24th - 26th.
