Echo Chernik follows in the footsteps of art nouveau artists such as Gustav Klimt and Alphonse Mucha. Her illustrations are sought after for turning a dull product or campaign into a classy, retro-erotic work of art. Originally from New York, Echo works out of her studio in South Florida and specializes in art nouveau women for advertising, book covers, poster designs and much more. Her work echoes the old time advertisements from the 1920’s when sex was used to sell items such as soap, coca-cola and most importantly, alcohol!
Echo’s Art Nouveau style is an elegant, decorative art style characterized by intricate patterns of curving lines. Art Nouveau remained popular until around the time of World War I, and ultimately replaced by the Art Deco style.
Her impressive client list consists of the Dave Mathews Band, Coors Brewing Co., Playgirl Magazine, United States Postal Service, Rocket Dog Shoes, Sears, and many more! Her main web presence is her website, Echo-X. When asked what the X stands for, Echo says “the x represents a variable, which in programming terms, means that it can be substituted for nearly anything. for example: x==illustrator, x==3d texture artist, x==instructor, and so forth. It is representative of a wide and varied range of skills and talents.”
Echo is a traditionally trained artist and a graduate of Pratt Institute where she received the summa cum laude (president’s award for academic excellence). Her background in art focuses on skills such as drawing and painting as well as perspective and color theory. This allows her to translate her artistic visions into whatever media best suits a given piece. This results in a versatile artist that is not limited by any one medium. Echo works in both raster and vector formats. She begins with a scanned drawing and manipulates it in Photoshop, Illustrator or painter programs, as well as the occasional 3-D program. She is also adept at traditional media, although she prefers digital.
Her website is a playground of visual beauty with links to all of her portfolios online, a store for purchasing art-related products of all things Echo, and ways to contact her for commissioned pieces. This girl definitely knows how to market herself! I am already enchanted with her amazing talent. There is no doubt in my mind that artist Echo Chernik will rise to the top of her industry as she constantly turns out beautiful pieces and becomes a legend for keeping this gorgeous style of art alive.
