Red Bull Art of Can Contest

redbull7jweb180pg.jpgNo limits. No rules. Just one common inspiration: a Red Bull can. The Red Bull Art of Can announces its 2007 nationwide search for aluminum-inspired art. The contest is open to all artists, regardless of age or experience, and encourages entries in all mediums. Approximately 40 pieces will be selected and displayed at each exhibit in Philadelphia and Chicago this fall. A grand prize winner will be chosen in each city and will be awarded an all expense paid trip for two to Art Basel, the world’s premier modern and contemporary art fair in Basel, Switzerland. Inspired artists can register online at www.redbullartofcanusa.com for a chance to have their work displayed in the city to which they applied.

Since 1997, the Red Bull Art of Can has been traveling the globe, bringing creativity and inspiration to artists in Austria, Germany, Holland, New Zealand, South Africa and Switzerland. The contest made its U.S. debut in Boston in 2005, followed by exhibits in Atlanta, Dallas and Minneapolis in 2006 which garnered nearly 650 submissions. Artwork from previous U.S. exhibits can be viewed online at www.redbullartofcanusa.com.
BREAKING THE MOLD

The Red Bull Art of Can offers a platform through which any person regardless of age may take part. Artists, students, grandparents and everyone in-between are invited to submit their recycled masterpieces. redbull2web180jpg.jpgThe Red Bull Art of Can is a true expression of the imagination with few restrictions placed.

Contestants are asked to use the Red Bull can, a little inspiration and a lot of imagination to conceive a work of art in any medium: sculpture, collage, animation, a piece of furniture perhaps or even a song. There are no limits other than the boundaries of one’s imagination.

A distinguished panel of judges and art critics will determine the top winners in the two cities. Their decision will be based on the following criteria: Creative Concept (overall idea behind the piece), Conceptual Execution (how well did the piece translate the concept idea), and Construction (how well the piece is made/ special effort/ unusual medium).

The Internet is quickly paving the way for artistic revolution, giving new arms for artists to reach art enthusiasts, collectors and appreciators across the globe. I am reminded of the words of musician and activist Jello Biafra when he suggested that we âbecome the mediaâ. Artists of all stripes now have the opportunity to do exactly this with the availability of platforms such as TalentDatabase.com. The art revolution for the Internet age is just beginning, and accessibility is no longer in the hands of an elite few. This is a visionary approach that will create unparalleled exposure for artists and a more eclectic and authentic palette for viewers and lovers of art. This is not just social networking. This is activism for art. I look forward to more!

This is my fourth day on this site and I am beginning to see artists from other sites showing up here. My sense is the online method of networking one\'s skill, search and marketing ability is just getting heated up. I certainly feel this site is moving in a proper direction with it\'s ease of operation, and apparent intention to actually aide the artist in reaching, \"End Users\", as in collector\'s, buyers, gallery owners, and those with disposable income. My hat is off to Talendatabase.com
